SAN ANTONIO – The Roadrunners made a comeback in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough as they came up short to Rice 57-69 Saturday afternoon at the Convocation Center.
The Roadrunners started off a little slow before hitting a scoring streak. Over a three minute period, UTSA hit a 10-4 run to come within one point (12-13) with 3:58 remaining. In the final two minutes, the Owls went on an 11-2 run to lead 26-16 after the first.
Through the first five minutes of the second, each team only scored eight points each as the Owls led by 12 (37-49). Both teams hit a scoring drought and Rice closed out the first half with a 7-3 run to lead 41-27.
Coming out of the locker room, the Roadrunners went on a 12-10 run to close the gap (39-51). In the final four and a half minutes, the Owls hit a 15-0 run to push their lead to 23 (62-39).
In the final 10 minutes, UTSA hit a scoring streak, outscoring Rice 18-7. The Roadrunners opened with a 7-0 run (46-62) until they hit a short scoring drought and Rice scored three points. UTSA hit another 7-0 run over a two-minute span as they trailed by 12 (53-65). In the last minute and a half, both teams scored four points each as Rice held onto the lead.

-Karrington Donald recorded 10 assists, her second game this season to get double-figures
The Roadrunners return to the court Jan. 8-9 when they travel to Denton to play North Texas.
