MATCHUP: The Roadrunners are 30-43 all-time against the Mavericks, including 13-23 in Arlington. UT Arlington won the initial and final contest in the series, March 13, 1993 and the last match up was March 24, 2013, with the teams facing off each season during the two decades. UT Arlington won seven of the last ten with a current two-game winning streak. UTSA claimed two victories in the last five meetings.
 
LAST TIME OUT: UTSA dropped a game at home for the first time in seven contests in 2020, falling to Texas A&M – Corpus Christi 7-6 March 2. UTSA rallied in the ninth, before dropping a 7-6 decision. The Roadrunners allowed five runs in the fifth, falling behind 7-3 before tallying lone markers in the fifth and sixth. They threatened in the ninth, scoring a run but stranded the equalizer at third.
 
UT Arlington enters the weekend winning four of the last five, including two straight and with triumphs over Dallas Baptist and TCU in consecutive mid-week contests. The Mavericks outlasted TCU 6-4 in 12 innings at Lupton Stadium in Fort Worth Tuesday, March 3. Falling behind 4-0 after two innings, UTA rallied with one in the third and three in the eighth to even things at 4-4. The teams traded zeros over the next three frames, until the Mavericks struck for two in the top of the 12th.
 
ABOUT UTSA: The offense is hitting .287 (123-429), while the pitching staff is holding opponents to .220, with a 3.11 ERA. The Roadrunners average 6.77 runs per game and hold the opposition to 3.38. 
 
Leyton Barry is slashing .471/.525/.882, leading the team in each category. His 14 RBIs equals Bryan Sturges for the team lead. Sturges paces the squad with 14 runs, while Dylan Rock has a team-high 17 hits.
