SAN ANTONIO – Four Roadrunners scored double digits as UTSA dominated Northwestern State 73-55 Tuesday night at the Convocation Center.
The Roadrunners started off strong as Emilie Baek put up the first points at the 8:52 mark. Both teams scored four points each until UTSA hit a 9-0 scoring run to lead 15-4 with 3:26 remaining. In the final couple of minutes, Northwestern State outscored the Roadrunners 4-3, but it wasn't enough as UTSA led 18-8 after the first.
In the second, both teams scored 13 points each through the first five minutes as the Roadrunners led 31-21. UTSA continued to find the basket as it hit a 10-7 run and lead 41-28 at the half.
Coming out of the locker, the Roadrunners hit a 6-0 run to push the lead (50-32). Both teams hit a scoring drought and in the final three minutes of the quarter, NSU outscored UTSA 9-4 to close the gap (59-46).
Closing out the last 10 minutes, the Roadrunners hit a 6-2 run to lead 65-48 with 5:46 remaining. UTSA continued to score and keep the Lady Demons from finding the basket as they forced three turnovers in just over two minutes. In the last three minutes of the game, the Roadrunners held NSU to four points to maintain the lead and capture the win.
