SAN ANTONIO – UTSA men's tennis junior Javier Gonzalez has earned a spot in the 2020 ITA Fall Nationals, featuring 32 of the top men's singles players in Lake Nona, Fla., Thursday-Sunday at the United States Tennis Association Campus.
Gonzalez will open the event with a matchup vs. Columbus State star Alvaro Regalado on Thursday at 10 a.m. CT. The winner will then face the winner of the matchup pitting Ohio State star James Trotter vs. Central Florida star Quinn Snyder.
A native of San Fernando, Chile, Gonzalez is coming off a four-win season in singles play during an abbreviated 2020 spring season. As a sophomore, he posted nine wins in singles and opened his collegiate career with 11 singles victories in 2017-18.
The Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, in its fourth year, will continue in Lake Nona until the finals on Sunday, which will be aired on ESPNU and ESPN3 at 3 p.m. CT.
