TUCSON, Ariz. — Adam House and Michael Rome finished in the top 10 to lead a strong effort by a quintet of Roadrunners who competed unattached at the Gobbler Amateur on Nov. 23-25 at Sewailo Golf Club.
House carded a 4-under-par 209 to finish in a four-way tie for second place in the 109-man field. The senior from Rockwall, Texas, opened the 54-hole event with a 1-under 70 before firing a 68 on Tuesday and an even-par 71 in Wednesday's final round, writing down 15 birdies during the week.
Michael Rome was only one shot behind his fellow Roadrunner, settling for a share of sixth place at 3-under 210. The junior from Austin posted a 70 in Monday's first round then turned in a 3-under 68 that featured seven birdies on Tuesday before a 72 in the final round.
David Harrison and Chad Sewell finished in a tie for 13th place at even-par 213.
Harrison, a freshman from Trophy Club, Texas, closed the tournament with a 69 that was highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 10th hole and also posted rounds of 71 and 73.
Sewell turned in the lowest round by a Roadrunner with a 66 in Tuesday's second round that featured eight birdies, including three in a row on Nos. 4-6. The junior from Conroe, Texas, also had a 74 in the first round and closed with a 73.
Hunter Bott, a freshman from Montgomery, Texas, tied for 40th with a 70-73-76—219 that was buoyed by 11 birdies on the week.
