McCormick collects third Conference USA Player of the Week honor

DALLAS — For the third time this season, UTSA sophomore Sincere McCormick has been named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

McCormick picked up the honor for his performance in the Roadrunners' 23-20 road win over Southern Miss on Nov. 21, their first victory in Hattiesburg in three visits. The Converse Judson High School product rushed for 173 yards and two touchdowns on 32 carries, breaking the school's single-season rushing yardage record and matching the single-season rushing TDs standard in the process.

McCormick broke loose for a 69-yard TD dash on the opening drive of the third quarter that gave UTSA the lead and pushed him over the 1,000-yard mark this season and the 2,000-yard barrier for his career. Later in the third, McCormick eclipsed the previous school record of 1,042 yards set by Jarveon Williams in 2015 and he also equaled the single-season rushing touchdowns mark of nine with his second score of the afternoon on a 1-yard plunge.

The 173-yard output marked his fifth 100-yard game of the season and his eighth in only 21 career games, already matching Williams' school record.

McCormick, who also picked up the league's weekly award on Sept. 14 and Oct. 26 paces C-USA and ranks second nationally with 1,094 rushing yards this fall despite missing the UTEP game on Nov. 14 due to the birth of his daughter.

UTSA now has collected eight C-USA weekly awards this fall, four more than the previous standard for most in a single season of four set in 2014.

The Roadrunners will host North Texas for Senior Day this Saturday, Nov. 28. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at the Alamodome and the game will be televised by Stadium, which is available on numerous regional sports networks around the country including Fox Sports Southwest in Texas.
