Men’s basketball announces 2020-21 schedule

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men's basketball team will face seven non-conference games and 18 contests in Conference USA play as part of its 2020-21 schedule, it was announced on Friday night.

UTSA will host 13 total home dates at the Convocation Center, face 18 foes in conference play and play a total of seven non-conference games, including four at home.

"We're excited to get our 2020-21 schedule out to the public," UTSA head coach Steve Henson said. "This was a unique and unprecedented year in terms of preparing a schedule and we are pleased with what has come together for our season. We are grateful to our university and athletics leadership in working so diligently to help us put together a schedule for our student-athletes and fans."

The Roadrunners will open their 2020-21 season at Oklahoma on Wednesday at 7 p.m. on Fox Sports Southwest and the FoxSportsGo app, and on Ticket 760 AM.

UTSA will then tipoff its home schedule with a Friday afternoon matchup with UT Permian Basin at the Convocation Center with a broadcast on CUSA TV.

The Roadrunners will venture to face UTRGV on Saturday, Nov. 28 in Edinburg, Texas, at 3 p.m. in a game broadcast live on the WAC Digital Network and on The Bull 93.3/92.5. The contest at UTRGV will be played without fans.

UTSA then hosts Sul Ross State at 6 p.m. on Dec. 4 on CUSA TV, before venturing to take on Oregon State on Dec. 16 in Corvallis, Ore., on the Pac 12 Networks.

A two-game homestand wraps up the non-conference portion of the schedule, as Our Lady of the Lake comes to the Convocation Center on Dec. 20 and Lamar ventures to San Antonio on Dec. 22, with both games broadcast live on CUSA TV.

The conference schedule starts with a two-game swing at Rice (Jan. 1-2), with UTSA also hosting North Texas (Jan. 8-9), Southern Miss (Jan. 22-23), UTEP (Jan. 28), Florida Atlantic (Feb. 12-13) and UAB (Feb. 26-27). The Roadrunners will also face road league games at Louisiana Tech (Jan. 15-16), UTEP (Jan. 30), FIU (Feb. 5-6) and Charlotte (Feb. 19-20).

UTSA announced a comprehensive plan for fans to attend home men's and women's basketball games earlier in November. The plan, which will allow attendance at a reduced capacity of 15% and with physical distancing measures, follows all state and local health directives and focuses on risk mitigation strategies that promote the safety of student-athletes, fans and staff. Since the situation remains fluid and continues to evolve, the plan is subject to change based on emerging information as well as local and state health developments.

The Conference USA Championships will be played at The Star in Frisco on March 10-13 in Frisco, Texas, with the NCAA Tournament slated to start on March 16-17.

The Roadrunners return two preseason all-conference performers, including senior guards Jhivvan Jackson and Keaton Wallace, the nation's highest scoring backcourt a year ago. Jackson shattered the C-USA and UTSA single-season scoring average mark with 26.8 points per game, also breaking the UTSA career and single-season scoring records. Wallace, who averaged 20.2 points per game as a sophomore and 18.8 points per game as a junior ranks among the top-10 in UTSA history in career scoring.
