Cheatham adds Ronnie Ladines to coaching staff

SAN ANTONIO - UTSA softball head coach Michelle Cheatham announced the addition of Veronica Ladines to the coaching staff. She will work primarily with the pitchers.

"Ronnie brings to our program a championship mindset and post season experience," Cheatham said. "She has a high standard of expectations for our pitching staff and is excited to be a part of our programming that emphasizes the full development of our student-athletes."

Ladines is joining the Roadrunners after spending the last year at Utah Valley where the Wolverines finished the 2020 abbreviated season with a 12-7 record.

Prior to UVU, she was a graduate assistant at the University of Akron.

Before Akron, Ladines had a standout career Kent State where she was a two-time All-Mid-American Conference first-team honoree and a two-time NCFA All-Region selection. She was named MAC East Pitcher of the Week eight times and was a member of the MAC All-Freshman team in 2014.

As a senior in 2017, Ladines finished with 20 wins and a 1.82 ERA in the circle, while also hitting  .274 with 11 home runs. She helped lead the Golden Flashes to a MAC tournament title, a berth in the NCAA Tournament and was named tournament MVP. Her performance in the MAC Tournament earned her the USA Softball Collegiate National Player of the Week and the NFCA National Pitcher of the Week.

After finishing her collegiate career, Ladines played professionally in the inaugural season of the American Softball Association in 2018.

Ladines earned a bachelor's degree in exercise science from Kent State in 2017 and a master's in exercise physiology in 2019.
