Slava Gulin joins UTSA men’s tennis

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men's tennis team has signed international standout Slava Gulin for the 2020-21 season, it was announced by head coach Sergey Avdeyev on Friday. 
 
Gulin, a native of Moscow, Russia, joins UTSA after a decorated prep career. A member of the Russian Junior National Team, Gulin is currently among world's top 100 best juniors, earning a ranking as high as No. 99. He is currently ranked No. 107 ITF in the world. 
 
"We are very happy to sign Slava," Avdeyev said. "He brings wealth of experience playing world competitions. He has been training at the top academies and been groomed around world best players. We can't wait to start working with Slava and get him to the next level."
 
He owns four ITF titles in singles and a pair in doubles. Ranked sixth in the country in his age division, Gulin's largest singles win came vs. the world's No. 38 ITF player.
