UTSA, BYU to face off on Oct. 10 in Utah

SAN ANTONIO — Officials from UTSA and BYU on Wednesday announced that the two schools will face off on the football field on Saturday, Oct. 10, in Provo, Utah.

The inaugural meeting on the gridiron between the Roadrunners and the Cougars, an FBS Independent that won a national title in 1984, will take place at LaVell Edwards Stadium on the BYU campus. It will mark UTSA's second visit to the state of Utah, as the first road game in program history was against Southern Utah on Sept. 17, 2011, in Cedar City.

UTSA's 2020 schedule now is back to a full slate of 12 regular season games. The Roadrunners are scheduled to open the Jeff Traylor era on Sept. 12 with the I-35 Rivalry against Texas State in San Marcos.

On Monday, the Roadrunners announced that they have agreed to host Army West Point on Oct. 17 at the Alamodome. This will mark the second straight season the two teams will play in San Antonio.

UTSA replaced its original home opener on Sept. 19 against Grambling State, which postponed its football season to the spring, with Stephen F. Austin, an FCS member of the Southland Conference and Traylor's alma mater. The Roadrunners also have a home date with defending American Athletic Conference champion Memphis that is scheduled for Sept. 26.

The Roadrunners have seven Conference USA contests on the ledger, including home games against Louisiana Tech (Oct. 24), UTEP (Nov. 14) and North Texas (Nov. 28) and road contests at UAB (Oct. 3), Florida Atlantic (Oct. 31), Rice (Nov. 7) and Southern Miss (Nov. 21). UTSA was scheduled to host Old Dominion on Oct. 17 but the Monarchs opted out of all fall sports earlier this month.

Kickoff times and broadcast information will be announced at a later date.

UTSA Athletics continues to work closely with the university and City of San Antonio to implement a plan for fans to safely attend home football games at the Alamodome. We will continue to follow all state and local health directives. Season ticket holders will receive more information as it becomes available regarding their tickets.
