SAN ANTONIO – Christiaan Le Roux, a long jumper out of Roodepoort, South Africa, has signed to join the UTSA track & field team, it was announced on Tuesday by director of track & field/cross country Aaron Fox.
"I am extremely excited to announce the signing of Christiaan to UTSA," Fox said. "He will join a long line of great jumpers that UTSA has produced over the years and will make an immediate impact at the conference and national level once he arrives. We look forward to helping him achieve his goals, both academically and athletically while he is here at UTSA."
Le Roux joins the Roadrunners out of Roodepoort, South Africa, where he shined in the long and triple jump.
As the second-youngest athlete in the field at the South African senior national championships, Le Roux placed fifth in the country in the long jump. He boasts personal highs in the long jump at 7.82 meters (25 feet, 8") and in the triple jump at 15.02m (49 feet, 3.5 inches). Last year, Le Roux twice owned a season best of 7.6m (24 feet, 11.25 inches) in the long jump. He also placed second in the 2018 South African junior national championship in the long jump.
