SAN ANTONIO – UTSA senior infielder Taylor Barber was tabbed an all-star in the Sunflower Collegiate League, it was announced on Monday.
Barber, playing for the Hutchinson Monarchs for the second consecutive summer, has hit .300 (27-for-90) in 23 games, with five doubles, one triple, one homer and 14 RBI. Barber has sported a 14-18 walk-strikeout ratio and owns 17 stolen bases.
A 6-foot-1, 225-pound right-handed hitter, Barber cranked nine homers and drove in 41 RBI during a 42-game stint in the Sunflower Collegiate League last year.
In 2020 for the Roadrunners, Barber played in 13 games, belting two homers with two doubles, driving in seven. As a junior in 2019, Barber hit .252 (22-for-87) with seven doubles and 18 RBI in 36 games. A native of Argyle, Texas, Barber joined the Roadrunners after starring for two years at Northeast Texas College.
The all-star game is set for Saturday at Eck Stadium in Wichita, Kan., at 7 p.m.
