Roadrunners add former Converse Judson standout Julon Williams

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA head coach Jeff Traylor announced Monday that former Converse Judson High School standout Julon Williams has signed a financial aid agreement to join the Roadrunners after two years at Houston.

Williams, a wide receiver, must sit out the 2020 season per NCAA transfer rules and will have two years of eligibility remaining.

The younger brother of Jarveon Williams, UTSA's career rushing leader who played in 2013-16 and currently is a graduate assistant with the program, he took a redshirt season in 2018 after playing in a pair of contests for the Cougars. He had two receptions for 57 yards, including a 48-yarder, in Houston's win over Texas Southern and he also had a catch in the victory against Arizona. Williams did not see any action as a redshirt freshman in 2019.

Williams was a standout dual-threat quarterback at perennial powerhouse Converse Judson in 2014-17. He threw for 6,715 yards and 60 touchdowns and rushed for 3,369 yards and 58 touchdowns while logging a 42-12 record as a starter during his career. As a senior, Williams threw for 2,074 yards and 19 touchdowns while rushing for 815 yards and 14 more scores. He earned all-district accolades and led the Rockets to the playoffs in all four seasons, including the state semifinals as a freshman and a sophomore.
