Soccer to participate in national food drive

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA soccer team is teaming up with United Soccer Coaches and NCAA soccer programs across the country in the fight against hunger by taking part in Soccer United Against Hunger.

Soccer United Against Hunger is a nationwide food drive being hosted by the United Soccer Coaches organization from June 1-30. The Roadrunners and other NCAA soccer programs will take part in the food drive by generating donations in their local communities. There are three ways to participate:

Ways to Help Fight Hunger
1.Donate to the San Antonio Food Bank or the Roadrunner Food Pantry in San Antonio.
2.Donate to a food bank or food pantry in your community on behalf of the UTSA soccer team.
3.Donate to Feeding America online through the Soccer United Against Hunger website.

The team is asking if you participate to please send in a photo with your items to Volunteer Assistant Coach Cory Marr (cory.marr@utsa.edu) or tag us on social media (utsawsoc).

A message from United Soccer Coaches
40 million people relied on food banks in the U.S. prior to the pandemic — including more than 11 million children and nearly 5.4 million seniors.  Since the pandemic over 30 million Americans have lost their jobs and many are now relying on food banks.  The over 500 Division 1 Men and Women's soccer programs are uniting along with the soccer communities across America to take action against hunger.
