SAN ANTONIO – UTSA men's tennis has signed Plano, Texas, native Riley Odell for the 2020-21 season, it was announced by second-year head coach Sergey Avdeyev on Thursday.
"We are very excited to welcome Riley into the UTSA family," Avdeyev said. "We are happy he landed here in Texas. Growing up here, he played lots of matches in San Antonio and he is well known in the Texas tennis community. He has lots of great results in his career, which should have a strong impact on our team. We can't wait to start working with Riley and integrate him into our team."
Odell, a graduate of Laurel Springs High School, is rated as a four-star recruit by the Tennis Recruiting Network and is currently ranked in the top 10 in the state of Texas, ascending to as high as No. 2 in his junior career.
He earned a top-25 ranking nationally before participating in the ITF Junior World Tennis Tour. He advanced to the round of 16 in the Orange Ball Junior Championships two years ago and recently placed fourth in doubles at the winter championships.
