Starr collects All-Conference USA accolade

DALLAS — Sophomore Jasmin Starr garnered All-Conference USA Singles Second Team honors from the league's head coaches, according to the conference office Monday.

"I'm so proud of Jasmin for being recognized amongst her peers," head coach Ki Kroll said. It is well deserved.  She works so hard, and is continually improving. I'm just very happy for her."

The Templestowe, Victoria, Australia native posted an impressive .833 winning percentage (20-4) during the spring, all at the No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. She went 12-1 in singles action during the spring campaign, winning her final eight singles matches and claiming 23-of-29 sets over the 13 contests. Starr carded key triumphs over Baylor's No. 1 Anastasia Kharitonova and Rice's No. 1 Michaela Heat with both victories on the opponent's home court. She went unblemished in four matches against Conference USA foes.

During the fall tournament season, Starr registered a 5-2 mark over two highly competitive events, defeating four competitors from Power Five Conferences. She opened the fall with victories over Kansas' nationally ranked Sofia Smagina, Southern California's Elise Mills and Claudia Bartolome of SMU, reaching the finals of the SMU Fall Invite.

At the H-E-B Invitational, hosted by Baylor, she ousted LSU's Maggie Cubbitt in the first round and cruised past Marta Falceto of Mississippi State in the round of 32.

This is Starr's first all-conference team accolade and the program's 37th singles all-conference selection, including six during the C-USA era.
