CW35 to re-air 2017 UTSA/Texas State game on Saturday

SAN ANTONIO — KMYS CW35 San Antonio will continue its rebroadcast schedule of past UTSA football games with the 2017 edition of the I-35 Rivalry between the Roadrunners and Texas State at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 9.

This Saturday's re-air will showcase UTSA's 44-14 road triumph over the Bobcats. The Roadrunners registered a school-record 569 yards of offense, including a program-best 357 on the ground behind Jalen Rhodes' 174-yard showing. Meanwhile, the defense surrendered only 198 yards in a night that was highlighted by Eric Banks' forced fumble that was returned by Josiah Tauaefa 22 yards for a touchdown.

The rebroadcasts, which are done in partnership with Roadrunners Sports Properties, began on April 25 with the Roadrunners' 31-17 Conference USA victory against North Texas during the 2016 season. Sporting all-black uniforms for the first time in program history, UTSA forced four turnovers — two fumbles and a pair of interceptions — while Rhodes and Jarveon Williams rushed for 74 yards apiece to key the win.

The second re-air looked back at UTSA's 9-7 league win against Marshall in the 2017 home finale, one day after UTSA Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Lisa Campos was introduced. The Roadrunners rode the right foot of place-kicker Jared Sackett — who made three field goals, including the game winner with two seconds left — and saw the defense limit the Thundering Herd to 229 yards of offense.
