Contacting a Student-Athlete from another Institution

•  An athletics staff member shall not make contact with the student-athlete of another Division I or II institution without first obtaining authorization through the national transfer database.
• If the student-athlete attends a Division III or NAIA institution, permission to contact must be received outside of the transfer portal. The athletics staff member should contact the Compliance office to inquire about permission to contact.
• Once authorization is obtained, the student-athlete is considered a PSA and would be eligible for a visit.

Transfer Policy for Student-Athletes at UTSA

• If a student-athlete is interested in transferring, they must notify Compliance via written notice
• Compliance will obtain signed consent from the student-athlete before inputting his or her education records into the national transfer database.
• Once the forms are returned to Compliance, Compliance will notify the head coach and enter the student-athlete’s information into the national transfer database within two business days.
