Women's hoops signs two more to 2020 class

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA women's basketball head coach Kristen Holt announced the signing of two newcomers to the 2020 signing class.
 
Kyleigh McGuire
Position: Forward
Hometown: Atascocita, Texas
High school: Atascocita HS
 
Quote from head coach Kristen Holt on McGuire: "We are very excited to have Kyleigh join our program. She is a hard working forward that will give us defense and rebounding. I am anxious to start working with her."
 
Bio: Kyleigh McGuire was named the 2020 Disctrict 22-6A Defensive Player of the Year, 2019 Offensive player of the Year and the 2018 Most Improved Player. She earned first-team all-district accolades in 2018-19 and second-team all-district honors in 2017-18. McGuire was a three-time Academic all-district and led the team in rebounds in 2018-19.
 

 
Yuliyana Valcheva
Position: Forward
Hometown: Varna, Bulgaria
Previous school: Western Nebraska CC
 
Quote from head coach Kristen Holt on Valcheva: "Yuliyana is a very good junior college player that will give us experience. She really works hard at improving her game and her ability to score and rebound both inside and out will help us immediately."
 
Bio: Yuliyana Valcheva transferred from Western Nebraska Community College. In her two years at WNCC, she averaged 10.1 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. The Lady Cougars finished second in the  Region IX championship in 2020  and were named the Region IX champions in 2019. WNCC made back-to-back appearances in the NJCAA tournament while Valcheva was on the squad. In high school, she placed second in national championship in Bulgaria, was named the Bulgaria U19 champions and member of multiple successful teams.
