MIAMI, Fla. – The UTSA women's basketball team closed the 2019-20 season with a 63-71 loss at FIU.
UTSA (6-23, 2-16 C-USA) started strong with a 6-0 run and didn't allow FIU to score until the 6:50 mark. The game was tied at eight after a short run from the Panthers. The teams tied the game back up at 10 with 2:42 remaining until a 5-0 run helped FIU lead 15-12 at the end of the first.
In the second, the Roadrunners went on a 12-4 run through the first half to lead 24-19. The Panthers scored five-consecutive points as UTSA hit a short scoring drought until Karrington Donald made a 3-pointer with 49 seconds left. The Roadrunners led 29-26 at the half.
Coming out of the locker room, the game stayed tight as the teams tied it three times. FIU outscored UTSA 25-20 to lead 51-49 going to the final 10 minutes.
In the fourth, FIU hit a 10-6 run through the first 6:30 to lead 59-57. A 16-2 run in the final five minutes of the game helped the Panthers take the game.
