SAN ANTONIO -- UTSA men's basketball junior guards Jhivvan Jackson and Keaton Wallace have been named all-district by the National Association of Basketball Coaches, it was announced on Monday morning.
Jackson was tabbed first-team NABC All-District, while Wallace earned second-team NABC All-District accolades.
It marks the second consecutive year the pair have earned all-district honors by the NABC, after Jackson and Wallace were each named to the first team in 2018-19. Only four players have earned NABC all-district honors in UTSA history, including Jackson, Wallace, Jeromie Hill (2011-12) and Devin Gibson (2010-11).
A native of Bayamon, Puerto Rico, Jackson turned in a historic 2019-20 season, leading the nation in total points scored (856), a new program record. Jackson ranked second in the nation with 27.2 points per game, setting a Conference USA and UTSA standard in scoring average. During the year, he shattered the UTSA career and single-season records for points scored, field goals made and 3-pointers made.
Jackson averaged 27.2 points and 5.8 rebounds per game as a junior, with his 5.8 rebounds per game ranking second in the nation among players six-feet and under. He sported 20 or more points in 27 of 32 games, totaled 30 or more in 12 games and had a pair of 40+ point outings.
In 2019-20, Jackson was been named All-Conference USA by the league coaches and all district by the United States Basketball Writers Association. He is a four-time C-USA Player of the Week, earned All-Conference USA accolades as a sophomore and was named C-USA Freshman of the Year in 2017-18. He claimed his second straight C-USA scoring crown in 2019-20 after averaging 22.9 points per game as a sophomore.
Wallace, a product of Dallas' Richardson High School, averaged 18.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game as a junior. He had 14 games with 20 or more points, including a pair of 30+ point outings. Wallace had a stretch of eight consecutive games with 20+ during conference play.
In 2019-20, Wallace was named second-team All-Conference USA by the league coaches and media for the second consecutive year. He averaged 20.2 points and 5.0 rebounds per game as a sophomore, earning all-district honors by the USBWA and the NABC. Wallace was tabbed Freshman All-Conference USA in 2017-18 average averaging 11.4 points and 3.1 rebounds per game.
Jackson has already earned all-district honors from the United States Basketball Writers Association, his second consecutive season to earn the accolade. He is the first player in UTSA history to earn a spot on multiple USBWA all-district teams and the just the second honoree in program annals, joining LeRoy Hurd in 2003-04.
