LAS VEGAS – Juri Reckow (Hamburg, Germany) moved to 9-0 in singles in 2020 but UTSA men's tennis fell at 12-win UNLV on Sunday afternoon at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
UTSA (5-6) claimed the doubles point and saw Reckow and Javier Gonzalez (San Fernando, Chile) each post singles wins but UNLV (12-1) claimed the other four points to narrowly edge the Roadrunners. UTSA opened the two-match swing in Las Vegas with a 4-2 win over Loyola Marymount on Saturday.
Reckow improved to 9-0 in 2020 with a 7-5, 6-3 over Jordan Sauer. Gonzalez posted a 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) winner on court four over Tom Ciszewski.
In doubles, UTSA claimed wins on court two and three to start the day with the opening point. Reckow and Kai Breitbach (Kaarst, Germany) won 6-4 on court thee, and Gonzalez and Joao Ceolin (Santos, Brazil) earned a 6-1 winner on court two.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, opening a three-match homestand at the UTSA Tennis Center with a 12 p.m. matchup vs. Butler.
