SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA women's golf team will tee off the spring season on Monday-Tuesday, Feb. 10-11, when they travel to Kyle, Texas, for the Texas State Invitational at Plum Creek Golf Course (par 72/6,290 yards).
The Roadrunners will look to defend their team title won one year ago against Houston Baptist, Lamar, Little Rock, Marshall, Oral Roberts, Rutgers, Sam Houston State, Southern Miss, Stephen F. Austin, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas State, ULM, UT Arlington and UTRGV. The field will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start slated for both days.
UTSA captured the team crown at the 2019 Texas State Invitational — one of three tournaments won during the 2018-19 campaign — after carding a 2-over-par 854 (284-285-285). Julie Houston earned runner-up honors with a 5-under 208 (71-68-69), while Madison Kidd and Ana Gonzalez placed fourth (71-72-69—212) and seventh (70-71-74—215), respectively.
The Roadrunners competed in four events last fall, including the Jim West Challenge in San Marcos, where they shared 12th place with a 6-over 870 (285-293-292). Individually, Ana Gonzalez paced the lineup with a 72.55 stroke average and a third-place finish at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship after firing a 7-under 206 (71-67-68).
