THE WOODLANDS, Texas — Madison Kidd and Nicole Polivchak are tied at 6-over par to pace the UTSA women's golf team after the first day of the ICON Invitational, which got underway Monday at The Woodlands Country Club's Tournament Course (par 72/6,392 yards).
Kidd and Polivchak are part of a tie for 43rd place at 6-over 150 through the first 36 holes of the two-day tournament.
Meanwhile, UTSA is in 13th place after posting a 296-304—600, six shots ahead of Texas State and only two strokes behind SMU.
Kidd fired the Roadrunners' low round of the day with a 2-under 70 for her opening 18 holes. The Lake Jackson native registered four birdies — two on each side — en route to turning in the third par-or-better round of her senior season. Kidd posted an 80 in the second round that included her fifth birdie of the day.
Polivchak bounced back from a 78 in the morning with an even-par 72 on her second scorecard of the day. The junior transfer wrote down birdies on the 359-yard, par-4 second and 343-yard, par-4 17th holes for her third par-or-better round of the season.
Camryn Carreon is one shot back of her teammates in a tie for 51st at 7-over 151. The freshman from San Antonio used a trio of birdies on the back nine of her morning round to post a 1-over 73 before turning in a 78 in the afternoon.
Hannah Holzmann is tied for 61st after recording a 77-76—153, while Ana Gonzalez is in a tie for 64th with a 76-78—154 on the strength of 29 pars, the second-best total in the field.
No. 5 Kent State and Purdue are tied for the team lead at 1-over 577, with TCU (578), No. 1 Texas (579) and 37th-ranked Texas A&M (581) rounding out the top five.
Sophie Guo of Texas sits atop the individual leaderboard at 4-under 140 (70-70).
The final round is slated for Tuesday.
