SAN ANTONIO – Juri Reckow (Hamburg, Germany) won his team-leading fourth singles match or the year, highlighted a 7-0 sweep by UTSA men's tennis over UIW in the home opener of the 2020 season, the first match of the Coach Sergey Avdeyev era, on Wednesday evening at the UTSA Tennis Center.
UTSA (2-2) won its second consecutive match with the home ldlifting win over the Cardinals (2-3).
The Roadrunners won the doubles point, with freshmen Sebastian Rodriguez (Trujillo, Peru) and Joao Alcantara (Santos, Brazil) posting a 6-1 win on court two and senior Kai Breitbach (Kaarst, Germany) and junior Javier Gonzalez (San Fernando, Chile) earning a 6-2 win on court three.
In singles, UTSA cruised to wins on each of the of the six courts, including wins behind Gonzalez, Reckow and Sebastian Rodriguez. Junior Joao Ceolin (Palontina, Brazil), sophomore Alan Sanson (Santiago, Chile) and Javier Rodriguez (Trujillo, Peru) each earned singles wins.
UTSA hosts Nebraska on Saturday at 2 p.m. before traveling to face the defending national champion Texas Longhorns on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in Austin.
