MATCHUP: For the third straight year and the fifth time in six years, UTSA travels to UFCU Disch-Falk Field for a clash with the University of Texas. Last season's 10-7 victory over the Longhorns snapped a five-game losing streak for the Roadrunners. Texas holds a 7-3 advantage in the last 10 meetings since April 18, 2006.
ABOUT UTSA: The Roadrunners opened the 2020 campaign with a three-game sweep of Quinnipiac, which is their first time they opened the season with three wins in a row since 2014. In the weekend series, UTSA outscored the Bobcats 20-4, including 13-3 in the series finale that ended in seven innings. As a team, the Roadrunners hit .311 (28-for-90) in the series with five doubles, two triples and a home run. The pitching staff held the Bobcats to a .103 (8-for-78) batting average and posted a 0.72 ERA and a 0.64 WHIP. The starters allowed one run on six hits and five walks, while fanning 15 in 19.0 innings.
ABOUT TEXAS: Texas swept Rice in Houston over the weekend, outscoring the Owls 16-8 in the three-game series. The Longhorns went 25-for-100 (.250) at the plate, with eight doubles, one triple and five home runs. They drew 10 walks but struck out 15 times and grounded into two double plays. The pitching staff held the Owls to a .224 batting average (22-for-98) with two doubles, one triple and two homers. Texas fanned 29 batters and walked nine in the three games.
POWER ALLEY: This is the first of four matchups with teams from Power Five conferences in 2020 for UTSA and the first of two this week. Three of the four teams hail from the Big 12. The Roadrunners face Texas Tech at Wolff Stadium in San Antonio April 1 before taking on Baylor in Waco, Texas April 14.
