BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UTSA women's basketball team dropped a 94-55 decision to UAB Thursday afternoon at the Bartow Arena.
UAB (14-7, 6-3 C-USA) opened the game with a 5-0 run before Mikayla Woods put the first points on the board for UTSA (6-13, 2-6 C-USA) at the 7:52 mark. The Blazers hit their first run of the game (9-0) to push the lead to 10, 4-14. Woods made a layup to bring the score within eight (8-16) as UAB hit a scoring drought for over three minutes. The Blazers then went on a 9-0 run in the final minutes to lead 25-10 after the first.
In the second quarter, UAB went on another run to push the gap until UTSA hit an 8-3 run to bring the score to 18-33. The Blazers scored 17 points in the final three minutes as the Roadrunners trailed 26-49 at the half.
Coming out of the locker room, UAB scored another 26 points in the third to push the lead as UTSA trailed 36-78 going into the final frame. In the fourth, the Roadrunners outscored the Blazers, 19-16 and shot 45 percent from the field. Woods scored eight points in the quarter and helped UTSA finish the game with an 8-0 run.
