Women's hoops is set to host North Texas and Rice

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's basketball team hosts North Texas and Rice this week. The Roadrunners play the Mean Green on Thursday at 11 a.m. for the Education Game and face the Owls on Saturday at 2 p.m.
 
All-time series against North Texas

  • This is the 28th meeting between the two teams with North Texas leading the series 16-11
  • The last meeting between the squads was Jan. 12, 2019 when UTSA won 57-54 in Denton
  • The Roadrunners are 7-6 at the Convo

  • This is the 21st meeting with the series tied at 10.
  • The last meeting was March 7, 2019 when Rice won 72-46

UTSA enters the weekend with a 6-10 overall record and 2-3 conference record.
 
The Roadrunners are coming off a 54-94 loss at UTEP.
 
Mikayla Woods led the team with 16 points, while Evelyn Omemmah grabbed seven boards.
 
Woods currently leads the team and conference in points per game.
 
Scouting North Texas
North Texas enters the contest 8-10 overall and 2-4 in C-USA action.
 
The Mean Green just defeated Louisiana Tech 74-69 in overtime last weekend. Their other conference win was WKU when UNT garnered a 61-54 victory.
 
Anisha George currently leads the team, averaging 12.8 points and 9.1 rebounds a game.
 
Scouting Rice
Rice comes into the weekend with an 11-6 overall record and a perfect 6-0 conference record.
 
So far, the Owls have defeated every conference opponent. They have played Marshall (81-43), WKU (73-65), Florida Atlantic (78-69), FIU (68-47), Louisiana Tech (60-47) and Southern Miss (75-67).
 
Erica Ogwumkie leads the Owls with 16.4 points and game, while Nancy Mulkey follows behind with 10.5.

Thursday's game is the Education Day for UTSA this season. School districts from around the San Antonio area will bring their students to attend the game. Saturday's game is military appreciation.
