Jackson earns third C-USA Player of the Week accolade

SAN ANTONIO -- After scoring 60 points over two wins last week, UTSA men's basketball junior guard Jhivvan Jackson has earned his third Conference USA Player of the Week honor, it was announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

A native of Bayamon, Puerto Rico, Jackson averaged 30.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game over UTSA's 2-0 week, including wins over Louisiana Tech and Southern Miss at the Convocation Center.

Jackson went for 37 points with five rebounds and six assists against LA Tech, the league's top-ranked defense. He splashed eight 3-pointers and was 11 of 23 from the field against the Bulldogs, with his scoring effort marking the sixth game of the year where he scored 30 or more points.

Jackson then added a 23-point, six-rebound, four-assist game in a win over Southern Miss – extending UTSA's home winning streak to six. He was 7 of 18 from the field and drilled three 3-pointers in the win.

A member of the Oscar Robertson Trophy Watch List, given the nation's best player, Jackson ranks No. 2 in the NCAA in scoring, averaging 25.8 points per game, which would stand as UTSA's single-season record, while adding 5.6 rebounds per game. The six-foot, 170-pound junior is averaging 24.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game in C-USA play.

Jackson and junior guard Keaton Wallace have formed the nation's highest scoring duo in 2019-20, with the pair combining to score 42.4 points per game as the only pair over 40 points an outing. Wallace, who averaged 20.2 points per game last year, is sporting 16.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game as a junior.

UTSA (8-9, 2-2 C-USA) returns to action on Wednesday, traveling to El Paso, Texas, to face UTEP at 8 p.m. CT at the Don Haskins Center.
