SAN ANTONIO – UTSA men's tennis has signed Sebastian Rodriguez to a National Letter of Intent for the 2019-20 seasons, it was announced by head coach Rodrigo da Silva on Wednesday.
"We are super excited to add Sebastian to our Roadrunner Family," da Silva said. "He is an all-court player who brings a great amount of international experience against some of the best players in the world. We are thrilled to get to work with him and can't wait to help him take his tennis to new heights."
A native of Peru, Rodriguez is ranked No. 82 by the International Tennis Federation and has won eight ITF tournaments, including seven doubles and one singles.
He represented Peru in the Davis Cup Competition vs. Mexico and qualified for the World Championship in the 16s grouping. A semifinalist of the Junior Orange Bowl in Florida, Rodriguez earned a win over Timofei Skatov, the former world No. 1 in junior rankings.
