SAN ANTONIO – After going for 28 points and a career-high 14 rebounds on Sunday, UTSA junior guard Jhivvan Jackson has been tabbed Conference USA Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday afternoon by the league office.
A native of Bayamon, Puerto Rico, Jackson earns his first player of the week accolade of the 2019-20 season after spurring UTSA to the win over UT Permian Basin on Sunday at the Convocation Center. Jackson, a member of the Oscar Robertson Trophy Watch List, given annually to the nation's best player, leads college basketball with 25.2 points per game as a junior.
A product of Dallas-Fort Worth's Euless Trinity High School, Jackson has been honored by the C-USA office 11 times in his three-year career. He was a seven-time C-USA Freshman of the Week honoree during his C-USA Freshman of the Year campaign in 2017-18 and earned three C-USA Player of the Week accolades during his sophomore season, when he won the league scoring crown with 22.9 points per game.
Jackson averages 5.7 rebounds per game as a junior, owning four games with at least 30 points and eight games with at least 20 points.
The Roadrunners (4-6) return to action on Wednesday, traveling to Houston's Toyota Center to face Oregon State (8-1) at 4:30 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN3 and will be broadcast live on the Roadrunners Sports Network, with Andy Everett calling the action live on the Bull 93.3/92.5 and goUTSA.com.
