UTSA signs pair to National Letters of Intent

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA head men's golf coach John Knauer announced Wednesday that he has signed Reed Foster (McKinney, Texas/Boyd HS) and Jack Wehman (Austin, Texas/Vandegrift HS) to National Letters of Intent. The pair will join the Roadrunners beginning with the 2020-21 season.
 
"We are excited to be adding Reed and Jack to our roster for the 2020-21 season," Knauer said. "They are both accomplished players in the state of Texas who have experienced success both on the high school and junior tour circuits. The future continues to be bright for Roadrunner Golf." 
 
Reed Foster (McKinney, Texas/Boyd HS)
Ranked No. 26 in the state of Texas for the class of 2020 by Junior Golf Scoreboard … standout golfer at McKinney Boyd High School near Dallas … helped lead the Broncos to a runner-up finish at the regional meet and to an appearance in the Class 6A state tournament in 2018 … part of Boyd lineup that won the Jay Brewer Memorial Tiger Classic in October in Texarkana for the first time … runner-up at the TAPPS 4A state tournament as a freshman at McKinney Christian Academy … won the 2019 LJT Spring Preview after firing a pair of 69s … tied for third with a 71-72—143 at the 2018 Red River Challenge while representing the Texas Junior Golf Tour … won back-to-back Metro Medalist crowns in 2016 and '17 and also finished atop the leaderboard at the 2016 All American Tour Kickoff.
 
Jack Wehman (Austin, Texas/Vandegrift HS)
Ranked No. 15 in the state of Texas by both Golfweek and Junior Golf Scoreboard … ranked 85th in the nation for the class of 2020 by Golfweek … key member of the Vandegrift High School golf team in Austin … fired a 76-72—148 to help lead Vandegrift to a runner-up finish at the 2019 Class 6A state championship … fired a 74-75—149 to helped guide the Vipers to a runner-up finish at the state tourney as a junior … won the 2016 Stampede as a freshman … finished in a tie for second at the 2018 District Preview … shared third place at the 2018 Regional Preview … tied for sixth at the 2017 Mike Brent Invitational … owns a career-low round of 68 … shot 70-75—145 to finish fourth at the 2019 LJT George Hannon Invitational … placed sixth with a 73-72-71—216 at the 2017 Holiday Classic at Barton Creek Resort … won the Bay Forest Junior Championship and Junior Tour Yaupon at Lakeway in 2015.
