Roadrunners host UIW on Monday

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's basketball team is set to host crosstown-foe UIW on Monday at 7 p.m.
 
All-time series

  • This is just the second meeting between the two teams
  • UTSA won the last meeting on Nov. 30, 2014, 51-31
  • UIW head coach Jeff Dow was the interim head coach as UTSA for the 1999-00 season

 
Scouting UTSA
UTSA enters the contest with a 1-0 record after defeating Concordia Texas 73-44 on Nov. 6 in the season opener.
 
Tija Hawkins led the team with 17 points, while freshmen Karley Larson and Charlene Mass followed behind with 10 and 12 points, respectively. The Roadrunners shot 43.5 percent from the field.
 
Mass an Mikayla Woods made their first collegiate start in the game and Karley Larson and Adryana Quezada appeared in their first collegiate game as well.
 
Scouting UIW
UIW enters the game with a 1-0 record after a 70-35 win over Schreiner University.
 
Alexis Henry led the Cardinals with 19 points and eight rebounds.
 
UIW shot 30.6 percent  from the field against the Mountaineers.
 
Promotion of the game
Monday's matchup will be the Hometown Showdown: WBB Edition and the #SetTheExpectation game for women's basketball. Student-athletes will be collecting donations for the battered women's shelter at each event and inviting fans to sign a community pledge to be the change in culture of violence at schools and in the community.
