2019 Roadrunners pro ball recap

SAN ANTONIO – Eight former UTSA baseball players competed in the professional baseball ranks. Here's an overview of each player for the 2019 season:
 
Justin Anderson (Los Angeles Angles)
Anderson appeared in 54 games for the Angels, working 47.0 innings – all in relief. He posted a 3-0 mark, allowing 29 earned runs on 42 hits and 32 walks. He fanned 60 and held opponents to a .232 batting average. MLB Stats
 
NATHAN ALEXANDER (Miami Marlins)
Alexander spent the entire 2019 season with the Clinton LumberKings, the Low A franchise of the Marlins in the Midwest League. He recorded a 4-3 mark in 34 games, with a 3.25 ERA in 52.2 inning of work. Alexander held opponents to a .219 batting average and surrendered just 19 earned runs on 43 hits and 28 walks, while fanning 43. MILB Stats
 
BRYAN ARIAS (Houston Astros)
After being drafted in June, Arias hit .234 with a .293 on-base percentage and slugged .342 in 36 games for the Astros Class A Short Season Affiliate Tri-City ValleyCats in the New York-Penn League. He scored 14 runs and drove in 12, while seven of his 26 hits went for extra bases. He tallied four doubles, one triple and two doubles. MILB Stats
 
DEREK CRAFT (New York Yankees)
Craft split time between Pulaski of the Appalachian League and Staten Island of the New York-Penn League. He worked in 21 contests and finishing with a 2.70 ERA, allowing nine earned runs in 30.0 innings pitched. Craft allowed 19 hits and 10 walks, while punching out 39 batters and holding opponents to a .183 batting average. MILB Stats
 
BROCK HARTSON (Cleveland Indians)
Recovering from an injury and missing all of 2018 and being a member of the 2019 Roadrunners staff, Hartson returned to the Indians organization and pitched for three minor-league teams. In 13 contests, including 10 starts, he finished with a 3-4 record and a 4.25 ERA. He tossed 48.2 innings, surrendering 23 earned runs on 46 hits and 22 walks. His final team was with High A Lynchburg of the Carolina League, where he worked in 10 games, starting eight. He went 2-3 with a 2.91 ERA, allowing 14 earned runs on 36 hits and 15 walks, fanning 37 and holding opponents to a .226 batting average. MILB Stats
 
CHANCE KIRBY (Detroit Tigers)
Kirby tossed 87.2 innings between the Lakeland Flying Tigers (A Advanced) in the Florida State League and the West Michigan Whitecaps (A Full) of the Midwest League. He went 5-8 in 18 appearances – 14 starts – and a 4.62 ERA. Kirby allowed 45 earned runs on 81 hits and 16 walks, while fanning 64. MILB Stats
 
CHRIS MULLER (Tampa Bay Rays)
Went 2-5 with a 2.88 ERA in 31 appearances on the mound for the Bowling Green Hot Rods (A Full) of the Midwest League. He allowed 18 earned runs, 39 hits, 26 walks and fanning 87 batters in 56.1 innings of work. Muller held opponents to a .188 batting average. MILB Stats
 
KARAN PATEL (Chicago White Sox)
After completing his senior season as the Friday night starter for the Roadrunners, Patel made 18 appearances for the White Sox Rookie Advanced Affiliate Great Falls Voyagers of the Pioneer League. He made 18 relief appearances and worked 32.1 innings, allowing 14 earned runs, 34 hits, seven walks and fanning 38. MILB Stats

After his senior season with the Roadrunners, Ryan Stacy joined the Southern Illinois Miners in late July, a member of the Frontier League, which is an independent league and does not have any affiliation to Major League Baseball.

RYAN STACY (Frontier League, Independent League)
Appeared in 13 contests and hit .275 (11-for-40) with three doubles, scoring three runs and driving in five.
