McCormick collects C-USA Offensive Player of the Week honors

DALLAS —UTSA freshman tailback Sincere McCormick has been named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week for his record-setting performance in the victory against UTEP, the league office announced Monday.

McCormick rushed for 189 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries to break UTSA's single-game rushing record and help spearhead a potent ground game in the Roadrunners' 26-16 triumph on Saturday night in El Paso. The Converse Judson High School product averaged 8.6 yards per carry and his 51-yard touchdown dash helped seal UTSA's third straight win against the Miners.

McCormick's rushing yardage total is the most by any C-USA player this season and it eclipsed the previous school standard of 186 yards set by Jarveon Williams in 2015 against Charlotte. The 5-9, 200-pounder leads UTSA and ranks third in the conference with 439 rushing yards through five games and his 6.6 yards-per-carry average stands second in the league and 25th nationally. He is averaging 87.8 rushing yards per game, which leads C-USA freshmen and stands third among all FBS freshmen.

McCormick was one of two Roadrunners to top the century mark, as quarterback Lowell Narcisse added 115 yards to help UTSA pile up 320 yards on the ground and improve to a perfect 4-0 against the Miners at the Sun Bowl. That total ranks third on the program's all-time list for team rushing yards in a game.

The Roadrunners (2-3, 1-1) will be back in action this Saturday, Oct. 12, when they welcome UAB (4-1, 1-1) to the Alamodome. Kickoff for the program's 100th game is set for 5 p.m. and it will air on ESPN+.
