Women's tennis wraps up H-E-B Invitational

WACO, Texas Keegan McCain earned UTSA's lone victory Saturday as the Roadrunners conclude their H-E-B Invitational at the Hurd Tennis Center Saturday.
 
McCain defeated Iowa State's Karan Alvarez 6-4, 6-1, advancing to the semifinals of the Green Draw Consolation Bracket., where she bowed out of the tournament with a 3-6, 7-6(7), 4/10 setback against TCU's Addy Guevara.
 
 In other singles action, Houston's Ndindi Ndunda outlasted freshman Laura Munoz-Baroja in three sets. Munoz-Baroja forced the tie-breaker, after dropping the first set 3-6, with a 7-6(5) victory in the second. Ndunda earned the win with a slim 10-8 margin of victory in the third.
 
Yu Chen of Auburn earned a 6-2, 6-0 decision over Jasmin Starr in the Gold Main Draw quarterfinals.
 
Iowa State's Margarita Timakova claimed a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Diya Menon in the Green Draw Consolation Bracket.
 
The Roadrunners return to action Oct. 11 at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
