Adams paces Roadrunners on final day of Hoakalei Invitational

EWA BEACH, Hawaii — Will Adams carded a 1-under-par round to pace the UTSA men's golf team on the final day of the Hoakalei Invitational, which wrapped up Wednesday at Hoakalei Country Club (par 72/7,444 yards).
 
Adams posted his second 71 of the three-round tournament to help the Roadrunners turn in a 2-over 290 on the final day and finish in 12th place with a 4-over 868, three shots ahead of Sam Houston State and only three strokes out of the top 10.
 
On the strength of an eagle on the 532-yard, par-5 second hole and a trio of birdies, Adams posted a 3-under 33 on the front nine during his final round. The sophomore from Odessa Permian High School added one more birdie to his tally on the back nine and finished the event in a tie for 52nd at 3-over 219 (71-77-71).
 
Meanwhile, Collin Clark led all Roadrunners by tying for 25th with a 1-under 215. The senior carded an even-par 72 on Tuesday behind a trio of birdies, including two on a three-hole stretch on the back. Clark, a native of Mansfield, opened the tournament with a 3-under 69 that featured his first hole-in-one before posting a 74 on Tuesday.
 
Hunter Bott finished second among UTSA golfers, tying for 40th with a 1-over 217. The freshman from Montgomery posted a 75 that included a pair of birdies on Wednesday after turning in a 73-69—142 for the first two rounds.
 
Christian Fanfelle tied for 67th with a 222 (76-7274) and David Harrison shared 73rd with a 223 (74-76-73) to round out the UTSA lineup.
 
Fanfelle, a sophomore out of San Antonio, registered three birdies in his final-round 74, while Harrison, a freshman from Trophy Club, wrote down four birdies en route to a 73 on Wednesday.
 
No. 32 East Tennessee State captured the team title with an 835, followed by No. 41 Mississippi (844) and 10th-ranked Louisville (845) in the 20-team field.
 
Shiso Go of East Tennessee State won the individual crown with a 14-under 202 (66-70-66).
 
The Roadrunners will return to the course on Jan. 27-28 when they travel to Tucson for the Arizona Intercollegiate.
