SAN ANTONIO —The UTSA men's golf team will close out the fall season at the Hoakalei Invitational, which will be contested on Monday-Wednesday, Oct. 28-30, at Hoakalei Country Club (par 72/7,444 yards) in Ewa Beach, Hawaii.
The Roadrunners will face 19 other teams in the 54-hole, stroke-play tournament hosted on the island of O'ahu. UTSA will join Abilene Christian, Army West Point, Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton, Denver, East Tennessee State, host Hawai'I, Idaho, Louisiana, Louisville, Loyola Marymount, Marquette, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico State, Sam Houston State, San Diego and UMKC in the three-day event. The field will play 18 holes with a 1 p.m. CT (8 a.m. HT) shotgun start each day.
This will mark the program's third trip to Hawaii and the first since Nov. 4-6, 2016, when UTSA finished 15that the Ka'anapali Classic in Lahaina, Maui. The Roadrunners also flew to the Aloha State in 2010 when they placed fifth in the Kauai Collegiate Invitational in Lihue, Kaua'i.
UTSA is coming off an 11th-place showing at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate last week in Dallas. Christian Fanfelle registered his fifth career top-20 finish by tying for 19thwith an even-par 213 (72-72-69) to lead the way.
