WACO, Texas – Junior Javier Rodriguez – a 2019 All-Conference USA selection – earned a pair of singles wins to highlight UTSA men's tennis at the ITA Regionals, hosted by Baylor over the weekend.
UTSA wrapped up its fall slate with the event, which featured both Sebastian and Javier Rodriguez (Trujillo, Peru) earning places in the round of 32 in singles. In doubles, each UTSA pairing earned a win in the first round.
The Roadrunners saw Sebastian posted a first-round win over his foe from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, before falling in the second round. His brother, Javier, earned wins over his first two foes, before falling in vs. Rice's Sumit Sarkar.
Senior Juri Reckow (Hamburg, Germany) posted a first-round singles win over UT Arlington's Eduard Simo, 1-6, 6-2, 10/1, before falling vs. Baylor's Ryan Dickerson.
Reckow and Sebastian posted a doubles win over SMU's Huntley Allen and Carles Sarrio Tamari, 8-4, before falling vs. Parker Wynn and Bjorn Thomson from Texas Tech, 8-6.
Kai Bretibach (Kaarst, Germany) and Javier posted an 8-1 win over SMU's Ed Ross and Jack Kite, 8-1, before falling vs. Yuya Ito and Christian Sigsgaard from Texas, 8-3.
