DALLAS – Deja Sandoval was named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference office on Monday.
This is the first time the freshman was awarded this accolade.
Sandoval scored both goals for UTSA against Southern Miss. She posted four points and played all 180 minutes over the weekend. The Albuquerque, N.M., native scored the game-winning goal against the Golden Eagles, helping UTSA improve to a two-game win streak. She also helped UTSA complete another shutout. The defender has four goals and eight points on the season.
The Roadrunners return to action on Thursday when they travel to Old Dominion. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. CT.
