SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA men's golf team will make its third trip of the fall season to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex to compete in the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate, which is scheduled for Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 21-22, at Royal Oaks Country Club (par 71/7,068 yards) in Dallas.
The Roadrunners will face Baylor, Charlotte, Iowa, Kansas State, Kent State, Liberty, Michigan, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Texas and SMU in the 54-hole, stroke-play tournament that will feature a "Maxwell" format with all five players from each team paired together.
The field will play 36 holes with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start on Monday and the final round is scheduled to get underway at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
UTSA tied with Kent State for 10th place at last year's Royal Oaks Intercollegiate, which was moved to Maridoe Golf Club in Carrollton due to flooding at Royal Oaks Country Club. Michael Rome fired a 221 (74-73-74) to tie for 28th, while Chad Sewell was 41st (76-76-72—224) to lead the way.
The Roadrunners last competed on Oct. 6-8 at the Maridoe Intercollegiate. Christian Fanfelle carded a 224 (72-77-75) to tie for 10th place and guide UTSA to ninth in the team standings.
