No. 24 WKU snaps Roadrunners winning streak

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU, ranked 24th in the latest poll, topped UTSA 25-10, 25-13, 25-22 at Diddle Arena Sunday.

For just the third time in their last 10 contests, the Roadrunners suffered a setback, snapping their four-match winning streak. They fall to 13-8 on the campaign and 6-2 in Conference USA, while the Lady Hilltoppers remain undefeated in seven league matches and move to 21-1 overall.

Freshman Courtney Walters compiled 20 assists on 27 kills by her teammates. The rookie from McKinney, Texas accumulated at least 16 helpers in every match this season. She added seven digs.

Sophomore Hannah Lopez led UTSA in kills with seven, marking the ninth time she paced the team this season.

WKU capitalized on runs of 9-0 in the first and second games, mounting a 2-0 advantage as the sides headed to intermission.

Attempting to avoid being swept, the Roadrunners put together their most complete game of the match. The see-saw affair featured 12 ties and six-lead changes but in the end the Lady Hilltoppers outlasted UTSA's futile attempt to extend the contest to a fourth set.

The Roadrunners step away from action for six days before hosting Marshall at noon Sunday.
