Roadrunners ready for Jim West Challenge

SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA women's golf team will make the short drive up I-35 to San Marcos for the Jim West Challenge hosted by Texas State on Sunday-Monday, Oct. 20-21, at Kissing Tree Golf Club (par 72/6,033 yards).
 
The Roadrunners will compete against Houston, Florida State, Kansas State, Memphis, Miami (Fla.), Mississippi, Missouri, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas State, Texas Tech and UNLV in the 54-hole tournament.
 
The field will play 36 holes on Sunday and 18 on Monday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start slated for each day. Live scoring will be provided at http://golfstat.com.
 
UTSA last competed in the Jim West Challenge two years ago when it was held in The Woodlands, Texas. Julie Houston tied for ninth place with a 209 (69-71-69) and Ana Gonzalez was 31st with a 218 (74-73-71) to lead the way.
 
The Roadrunners are coming off a 12th-place finish at the Princess Anne Invitational on Oct. 4-6 in Virginia Beach. Madison Kidd led the way by carding a 219 (72-75-72) to place 38th.
