BOCA RATON, Fla. – With back-to-back goals, Florida Atlantic took a 2-1 win over the Roadrunners Friday night.
UTSA falls to 4-6-1, 0-4-0 C-USA on the season, while FAU improves to 10-3-0, 4-1-0 C-USA.
For a majority of the game, the Owls and the Roadrunners battled for the ball.
It wasn't until the 71st minute that either team had scored until Lexi Bolton put a point on the board for UTSA. Sarina Russ passed the ball to Bolton who battled multiple defenders until she took a shot that bounced off the left post and into the net.
FAU tied the game in the 80th minute when Carolynn Wotring crossed the ball into the box to Mary O'Hara who got a boot on it and found the left corner of the net.
Just a minute later, the Owls scored again to take the lead. Pernille Velta headed the ball into the net off a cross from Sammy Vitols.
UTSA posted 10 shots with three on goal, while FAU had 18 with six on target.
Bolton led the team with five shots and freshman Jil Schneider posted four saves on the day.
The Roadrunners return to action on Sunday when they play at Marshall. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. CT.
