Soccer completes another shutout

SAN ANTONIO – For the second-consecutive match, the UTSA soccer team completed another shutout with a 3-0 victory over Cleveland State Friday night.

The Roadrunners improve to 3-1 on the season, while the Vikings fall to 2-2-1.

Ellis Patterson scored her third goal of the week in the 15th minute of the game. Abby Kassal crossed the ball from the left side of the field to Isa Hernandez who redirected the ball for Patterson to score with one touch.

Isa Hernandez scored her first career goal about halfway through the first half. Senior Nicole Galan passed the ball through a gap as Hernandez found the lower left corner from the top of the box.

UTSA closed out the shutout with another Lexi Bolton goal who intercepted the ball, spun around a defender and ripped a shot to the lower right corner.

The Roadrunners outshot the Vikings 18-7 and goalkeeper Sophie Milich improved to 2-0 on the season.

UTSA returns to the field on Sunday when they host South Florida at 1:30 p.m. for the final game of the tournament.
