SAN ANTONIO – For the first time since 2013, the UTSA soccer team will host a tournament this weekend, Sept. 6 and 8, at Park West Athletics Complex. The tournament will consist of UTSA, Cleveland State, Rice and South Florida.
The Roadrunners will face Cleveland State on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and take on USF Sunday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.
This will be the first time UTSA will play the Vikings and the Bulls.
Scouting UTSA
The UTSA soccer team is 2-1 on the season and looking to keep their momentum going from a dominate 4-0 win on Sunday against Grand Canyon.
Ellis Patterson scored two goals, while Kendall Kloza and Nicole Galan each garnered one. Isa Hernandez and Lexi Bolton each picked up two assists, while Alex Granville and Abby Kassal added their first career assists. Senior Sophie Milich received her first shutout and was named C-USA Goalkeeper of the Week.
Scouting Cleveland State
Cleveland State is 2-1-1 on the season, with three of their last four games going into double overtime.
The Vikings have victories over Ohio and Akron and tied Kent State 0-0 in double overtime.
Elena Gutlove leads the team with two goals on the season and five points.
Scouting South Florida
The Bulls are 2-1 on the season, after a 2-0 victory over Saint Leo University Aug. 29. Their game schedule for Ohio State on Sept. 1 was canceled.
South Florida will play Rice Friday at 5 p.m. before taking on the Roadrunners Sunday afternoon.
Andrea Hauksdottir, Sydny Nasello, Aubrey Megrath and Evelyne Viens all have one goal so far this season. Sydney Martinez leads the keepers with a 2-0 record and four saves.
