SAN ANTONIO – With a minute and a half remaining in the game, Rice scored to take a 1-0 victory Sunday afternoon at Park West Athletics Complex.
UTSA falls to 4-4-1, 0-2-0 C-USA on the season, while the Owls improve to 5-4-1, 2-0-1 C-USA.
In the first half, neither team posted many shots. UTSA had four, while Rice had one. After halftime, both teams picked up their shot game as the Roadrunners posted eight and the Owls seven.
At the 88:35 mark, Rice's Madison Kent went one-on-one against UTSA defenders and slipped the ball through their feet and into the net to score the lone goal of the day.
The Roadrunners posted 12 shots, with six on target, while the Owls had eight shots with three on goal.
UTSA returns to action on Oct. 6 when it hosts North Texas before hitting the road. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
