Adams, Harrison lead UTSA on final day of Trinity Forest Invitational

DALLAS — Will Adams and David Harrison each fired a 1-under-par 70 to lead the UTSA men's golf team in the final round of the Trinity Forest Invitational, which wrapped up Tuesday at Trinity Forest Golf Club (par 71/7,486 yards).

Adams and Harrison helped the Roadrunners card a 1-over 285 — their best team score of the 54-hole tournament after registering a pair of 287s through the first two days — and move up one spot in the team standings into a tie for ninth place at 7-over 859.

UTSA shared ninth with Denver and was one shot ahead of a three-way tie between Ball State, Mississippi State and Sam Houston State, while also finishing only two strokes behind eighth-place Virginia.

Harrison paced the Roadrunners by tying for 23rd at 1-under par 212. The freshman from Byron Nelson High School used birdies on Nos. 1, 7 and 15 en route to turning in his second 70 of the event and third of his young collegiate career.

Adams finished in a tie for 33rd at 1-over 214. After posting a pair of 72s through the first two rounds, the sophomore from Odessa Permian High School registered a 70 that was highlighted by four birdies and he finished the tournament with a team-high 39 pars, which ranked second in the field of 90 players.

Chad Sewell finished third out the UTSA lineup after posting a 2-over 215 to tie for 41st. After opening with a 74-68—142, the junior from Conroe had a 73 in Tuesday's final round that included a trio of birdies as part of a 3-under 33 on the front nine.

Hunter Bott shot a season-best 72 on the strength of four birdies to provide the other counting score for UTSA in the final round. The freshman from Montgomery finished in a tie for 68th with a 221 (74-75-72).

Collin Clark also shared 68th with a 221. The senior from Mansfield posted his second straight 75 after starting off the event with an even-par 71 on Sunday.

Arizona State captured the team title behind individual medalist Alex del Rey.

The Roadrunners will return to action on Oct. 6-8 at the Maridoe Intercollegiate in Carrollton, Texas.
