Clark paces UTSA lineup on opening day of Lone Star Invitational

SAN ANTONIO — Collin Clark is in the top 20 and the UTSA men's golf team is in seventh place after the first two rounds of the Lone Star Invitational, which got underway Monday at TPC San Antonio's AT&T Oaks Course (par 72/7,435 yards).
 
Clark is tied for 19th at 4-over par and the Roadrunners settled into seventh place with 18 holes left to play on Tuesday.
 
A senior from Mansfield, Texas, Clark opened the tournament with a 1-over 73 that featured birdies on the 405-yard, par-4 11th and 567-yard, par-5 14th holes. He turned in a 75 in the afternoon on the strength of three more birdies and is only four strokes out of the top 10 entering the final round.
 
UTSA carded rounds of 297 and 303 and is one shot ahead of Rice and two in front of New Mexico State after 36 holes. The Roadrunners trail Little Rock by nine in the field led by Houston and UT Arlington at 1-over 577.
 
Adam House is one shot behind his fellow senior after posting a 5-over 149. The Rockwall, Texas, product registered four birdies as part of a 73 in the morning and followed with a 76 in the second round, and he is in a tie for 23rd place.
 
Hunter Bott trails House by only one stroke and is knotted for 27th. The freshman from Montgomery, Texas, bounced back from a 77 in his first round with a 73 in the afternoon that was buoyed by three birdies and an eagle-three on No. 14.
 
Chad Sewell and Christian Fanfelle round out the UTSA lineup in 51st (74-81—155) and 55th (77-79—156), respectively.
 
Meanwhile, David Harrison, who is competing as an individual and not in the UTSA lineup, led all Roadrunners on the first day after carding a 2-under 142. The freshman from Trophy Club, Texas, opened his collegiate career with a 70 that was highlighted by five birdies, four as part of a 33 on the back nine. He wrote down two more birdies en route to an even-par 72 in the afternoon and is tied for sixth place, eight shots off the pace of 10-under set by Nolan Ray of Lipscomb.
 
Also playing as an individual, Will Adams is tied for 27th after posting a 74-76—150.
 
The final round is slated for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday.
