Clark, Harrison register top 10s at Lone Star Invitational

SAN ANTONIO — David Harrison tied for seventh place while competing as an individual and Collin Clark finished ninth to lead the UTSA men's golf team to sixth place at the Lone Star Invitational, which wrapped up Tuesday at TPC San Antonio's AT&T Oaks Course (par 72/7,435 yards).
 
Harrison posted a 1-over-par 217 to share seventh place and Clark led the Roadrunners lineup by ending up in sole possession of ninth with a 2-over 218.
 
Clark fired a 2-under 70 in Tuesday's final round on the strength of four birdies. The senior from Mansfield, Texas, made up 10 places on the final day of UTSA's annual home tournament to register his sixth career top-10 finish after turning in rounds of 73 and 75 on Monday.
 
Behind Clark's top 10, UTSA finished sixth with an 896. The Roadrunners fired their best round of the tournament with a 296 on Tuesday after opening with a 297-303—600 on Monday. UTSA passed ULM (899) on the final day and ended up only four shots behind Little Rock for fifth place in a team race which came down to a three-team playoff that saw South Alabama defeat Houston and UT Arlington for the team title.
 
Meanwhile, Harrison made the most of his first collegiate competition while playing outside the UTSA lineup. The freshman from Trophy Club, Texas, opened the 54-hole event with a 70-72—142 on Monday and followed that with a 75 in the final round to finish seventh, two strokes out of the top five and 11 back of individual medalist Nolan Ray of Lipscomb.
 
Will Adams also competed as an individual and tied for 13th place with a 4-over 220. The sophomore from Odessa Permian High School fired a 2-under 70 that was highlighted by four birdies to bounce back from a 74-76—150 on Monday.
 
Hunter Bott was the second-highest finisher in the lineup, as the freshman tied for 26th. The Montgomery, Texas, native posted a 75 on Tuesday after opening with a 77-73—150.
 
Chad Sewell tied for 45th with a 230. The junior from Conroe, Texas, matched Bott with a 75 that featured a trio of birdies after posting a 74-81—155 on Monday.
 
Christian Fanfelle provided the other counting score in Tuesday's final round with a 76 that included an eagle on the 347-yard, par-4 17th hole. The sophomore from San Antonio finished with a 232 (77-79-76) to share 51st place.
 
Adam House rounded out the UTSA lineup in 66th (73-76-DQ—149).
 
The Roadrunners will be back in action next Sunday-Tuesday, Sept. 22-24, at the Trinity Forest Invitational in Dallas.
